Equisport was founded by Husband and wife team Jon & Kim Ruse
Kim’s father originally built horseboxes and refurbished and resprayed commercial vehicles, Kim as a teenager helped with the family business along with competing Horses learning valuable lessons along the way.
When Kim left school she persuaded a career in horses , and studied at Bishop Burton agricultural college in equine & business , qualifying as a riding instructor and taking her BHS exams along studying , and also winning not only the stocksmanship award but also student of the year.
Jon & Kim decided with the help of Andy’s knowledge to start Equisport during a tough recession period and had to fight extremely hard to start up a young fresh business – this determination to survive is clear within the business. Jon had 18 years of engineering background to help develop what is known now in the UK as the BEST 3.5t Panel Van horsebox on the market with customers all over Europe, and the UK singing our praises. Our huge social media presence confirms this quality is sort after.
The safety aspects and development of the Equisport Horseboxes are a clear combination of the above. Jon runs a very tight workshop with his dedicated team.
We now have Lisa a lifelong family horse friend and her husband Rich as a major part of the workforce and the Workshop Staff , Barry / Jordan / Reece / Scott. Andy (Kim’s father) still plays a huge part in guidance and knowledge of the company.
Anyone is welcome to visit the Family company, have a coffee and look around.

Richards background came from running a small team in a warehouse and also was a long serving member in the Army. Bringing several areas of knowledge and being forced to enjoy his new found horsey life he makes an invaluable team player.
